Premier League star urged to reject Manchester United move, but Dan Ashworth wants him in January
Jarrad Branthwaite has been urged to reject a move to Manchester United despite Dan Ashworth wanting to sign the player in January.
Manchester United’s transfer plans for 2025 are coming into focus following the arrival of Rúben Amorim as head coach.
Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, who left the club in disarray, with United sitting 14th in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, despite a summer spending spree of over £200 million.

With a tighter budget on the horizon, United are prioritising Amorim’s ability to maximize the performance of the current squad.
Though January signings seem improbable, the club are preparing for summer arrivals, with outgoing transfers expected to fund new additions.
United’s Branthwaite wish
According to the Daily Mail, talks at United have been held recently about the feasibility of signing Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite in the winter transfer window.
United are keen to secure Branthwaite and have been long-term admirers of the centre-back. However, they saw £40 million and £45 million bids rejected in the summer.
However, the Mail claims that their sources have “indicated a degree of urgency” surrounding Braithwaite as many of United’s rivals, such as Manchester City and Liverpool, are also keen to secure the England international.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth is the driving force behind signing Branthwaite at United, and if United can generate funds to sign him, this deal may go through.
Branthwaite urged to wait
However, Braithwaite himself has been urged to wait a few more seasons at Everton before signing for a big club.
“He can pick any team in the world,” ex-Everton midfielder Anders Limpar told mybettingsites. “He can pick any team in the Premier League.
“Everton had Stones and sold him to City and became one of the world’s best prospects. The players who leave Everton always go on to do well but he should stay at Everton and make the club solid as a team.
“He shouldn’t leave right now. I would like for him to stay at the club a few more years and help Everton and then get his move. He is going to play for big clubs in his career when he wants.”
