Manchester United have seemingly identified two transfer targets for the summer of 2025 as Erik ten Hag’s men continue to advance on the club’s new project.

So far this summer, the club have signed Joshua ZirkzeeLeny YoroMatthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui for a grand total of £139 million, securing the players in four key positions across the team.

They have also raised around £60 million in sales, with those such as Aaron Wan-BissakaMason GreenwoodWilly Kambwala all leaving Old Trafford for careers elsewhere.

While the 2024 summer transfer window is yet to close, and United are still pursuing key targets, it seems as if the club have also started laying the groundwork for who they want to sign in 2025.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, United tabled a bid of around £42 million for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, although their offer was rejected by the Serie A club as it has become too late in the window to find a replacement.

With the relationship between the two clubs described as “excellent”, Pedulla explains that United may return for the Brazilian 25-year-old next summer, having been “following and appreciating him for some time”.

Meanwhile, other reports from England have explained that United remain hopeful of signing Jarrad Branthwaite, although they acknowledge that a move may not materialize until next summer.

Should Branthwaite stay at Everton over the next year, United are prepared to revisit the deal, especially since the player had already agreed on personal terms with the club earlier this summer, indicating his clear interest in joining.

However, Manchester City and Liverpool have also shown strong interest in the 22-year-old. If Branthwaite performs well for Everton in the upcoming season, a three-way competition for his signature could emerge.

United have already seen two bids for Branthwaite rejected this summer, with Everton rebuffing offers of £45 and £50 million total packages.
