Manchester United are reportedly seriously interested in a £42 million “world-class” winger who could replace Alejandro Garnacho under Rúben Amorim.

Manchester United are looking to strengthen their attacking line as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle with a lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

The team’s inability to score more than a single goal in most matches has been a recurring issue this season, with their form at Old Trafford raising further concerns among supporters.

Uncertainty surrounding the futures of Joshua Zirkzee, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho has only added to the pressure on United to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming transfer window.

While financial constraints remain a challenge, Amorim is expected to push the board to prioritise investment in new attacking talent to address the team’s scoring problems and revitalise their forward play.

United showing serious interest in Gittens

With Garnacho’s future in doubt amid serious interest from Napoli, United’s need for attacking reinforcements grows by the day, and according to a new report, they are eyeing Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

German transfer expert Florien Plettenberg recently released the latest on Gittens’ future, with Bayern Munich said to be interested in the 20-year-old winger.

The report states that Gittens’ is a “top target” for Bayern, but that United are “seriously interested” in the winger.

Bayern have already held talks with his representatives, and should Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League, Gittens’ departure may be inevitable.

If United were to sell Garnacho in either the winter market or the summer, they are demanding a fee of around £60 million, and Gittens may be a perfect replacement.

What is Gittens’ current transfer value?

Gittens has been described by Dortmund as a player who is capable of producing “world-class” moments, such as a superb solo goal against Bayern in November last year.

Transfermarkt has pinned the player’s current value at around the £42 million mark, with the winger having taken on leaps and bounds since he joined Dortmund in 2020.

Originally part of Manchester City’s academy, he made the switch to Germany to join Dortmund’s U19s side, and made his full debut for the club in April 2022 at age 17.

Gittens started his career with Caversham Trents in Reading, having been born in London in 2004.

He has played both as a left and right winger during the formal years of his career, and although he is right-footed, he is known to be comfortable using both feet.
