European club have ‘walked away’ from Manchester United transfer, explains Fabrizio Romano
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have walked away from a Manchester United transfer deal despite their “real interest” this summer.
Manchester United made a powerful start to the 2024 transfer window, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and outmanoeuvring Real Madrid to sign Leny Yoro from Lille.
These two signings, costing a combined £88 million, necessitate player sales to fund further transfers. Erik ten Hag‘s squad has already seen exits, with Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Alvaro Fernandez departing.

The club is now concentrating on reinforcing key positions, aiming to sign a midfielder, right-back, and centre-back. Many thought the club would need to continue selling to do so, with Jadon Sancho expected to be shipped away from Old Trafford this summer.
However, in a major twist last month, it was announced that the 24-year-old had rejoined training after sitting down with Ten Hag and squashing their differences. Juventus had previously been credited with significant interest in the winger, but this is no longer the case.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are “no longer in the race” to sign Sancho this summer. Borussia Dortmund also consider the deal too expensive. It is thought that United want around £40 million for Sancho.
“Juventus were among the clubs really interested in Jadon Sancho, they are no longer in the race, they are looking at different options,” Romano told The United Stand. “Borussia Dortmund consider this deal too expensive.
“PSG have an interest, yes they spoke to the agents of the player, they never reached out to Manchester United to make a proposal or open a negotiation.”
Further, Romano explained that while no offer has yet been made for Sancho, the situation is “still open,” and he could well leave before the end of the month when the window closes.
He said: “I think the situation of Sancho is still open. Now it is different, the player is integrated into the group, they want an important proposal to let Sancho go. I think it’s still something around £40 to £45 million in that region. It depends on the opportunity.”
Further reports have subsequently claimed that Paris St. Germain have initiated discussions with Manchester United regarding the potential acquisition of Sancho.
The clubs have explored the terms of a possible transfer, with Sancho reportedly open to the move and not anticipating any issues with personal terms.
Given their prior negotiations over Manuel Ugarte, an effective line of communication is already in place between the two European powerhouses.
Sancho has been playing the last few pre-season games as a centre-forward due to Rasmus Højlund’s absence, but he may well start as the striker against his former club, Manchester City, on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.
