Five Manchester United players who could leave Old Trafford before transfer deadline day
Five Manchester United players who could leave Erik ten Hag’s squad before transfer deadline day at the end of August.
Manchester United are preparing for a busy end to the summer transfer window. They have already invested £139 million in acquiring Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
As part of their restructuring efforts, the club has recuperated over £55 million from selling players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, among others.

With the transfer deadline approaching in just under two weeks, United’s focus is now on bolstering their midfield and potentially adding a new left-back. Manuel Ugarte is reportedly eager to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Old Trafford.
To fund these moves, United are considering further sales, and five players may leave the club before the transfer deadline on 30 August.
#1 – Scott McTominay
Scott McTominay may well yet leave Manchester United before the end of the transfer window.
The player has been linked with multiple moves away this summer and was subject to two bids from Fulham, who have now returned to the negotiating table with a third round of talks ahead of the deadline with United wanting around £25 million.
He has also been linked with a potential move to Napoli across the last few days, with Napoli director Giovanni Manna refusing to comment when asked about the club’s interest.
#2 – Hannibal Mejbri
Reports last week claimed that Hannibal Mejbri has turned in a transfer request in order to try and facilitate a permanent move out of the club before the transfer deadline passes.
As a result, United are said to be ‘ready’ to sanction his sale in the coming weeks, and there have been links to Scottish Premier League sides Celtic and Rangers.
Rangers were said to be especially impressed by Mejbri’s performance during a pre-season friendly against them last month.
#3 – Facundo Pellistri
Facundo Pellistri may depart United almost four years after he signed for the club. “Advanced talks” are now taking place between the club and Greek side Panathinaikos over a permanent move.
Although the deal is not yet finalised, it was explained by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that negotiations are ongoing. Pellistri could leave United in the next few days, although no transfer fee is mentioned.
#4 – Victor Lindelöf
Victor Lindelöf is also another player who may see the exit door in the next two weeks. After summer centre-back signings Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt, Lindelöf is now low on the pecking order under Ten Hag.
According to reports from Germany, Eintranct Frankfurt’s director of football, Markus Krösche, is ‘under pressure’ to find a centre-back before the window closes, with the Bundesliga club now ‘scrambling’ to find an option.
It is mentioned that Lindelöf is a player Krösche is eyeing before the end of the window, although Lindelöf was spotted using a crutch a few days ago after he missed United’s two recent fixtures against Manchester City and Fulham.
#5 – Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen is the final man who may make way in the next few weeks. With United wanting to buy at least one more midfielder this summer and Mason Mount now fit and playing with the squad, Eriksen is very low on the list of starting players.
Anderlecht manager Brian Riemer already admitted this summer that he hopes to secure a transfer for the Denmark international captain.
The Belgian transfer window closes on 6 September, a week after the English window, meaning this move may materialise even after United can no longer sign new players.
