Manchester United youngster lining up for surprise Brazil transfer following La Liga loan
It is being reported that Facundo Pellistri is being lined up for a surprise move to Brazil this summer after his loans from Manchester United have failed so far.
Facundo Pellistri‘s career at Manchester United has so far failed to live up to the expectations that many set when he joined the club in October of 2020.
The 22-year-old Uruguan talent signed from Uruguayan club Peñarol in 2020 for a fee estimated to be around £7 million, hoping he would develop into a first-team winger over the next few seasons.

However, Alejandro Garnacho has been the younger who has successfully followed this career trajectory more so than Pellistri, and Amad Diallo is now making similar progress, leaving little room for him in the starting XI.
Consequently, Pellistri has been loaned out multiple times to La Liga, joining Alaves twice and Granada most recently in the January 2024 transfer window. In 15 appearances, he recorded two goals and two assists.
Pellistri’s notable success has often come with the Uruguay national team. He made his debut for them before starting for United and played a crucial role in their 2022 World Cup squad.
Recently called up for the upcoming Copa America tournament, Pellistri scored his first goal for Uruguay in a 4-0 victory over Mexico two weeks ago.
With his United career continuing to stall, it has now been revealed that he is garnering surprise significant interest from Campeonato Brasileiro Série A – the Brazilian football league.
According to Uruguayan journalist Sebas Giovanelli, Flamengo want to sign the young international this summer. Flamengo have a good working relationship with United, having negotiated the loan move of Andreas Pereira in 2021 before his sale to Fulham.
At this moment, there is no clarification on whether the deal would be a loan or permanent, but with United wanting to raise as much as possible in funds over the next few months, the club may push for a permanent sale.
Pellistri’s current contract with United expires in 2025, although the club has the option to extend it by a further year.
