Manchester United have received a transfer boost as Liverpool exit the race for an ‘unbelievable’ midfield target.

Manchester United are eyeing potential targets ahead of the 2025 transfer windows to help Ruben Amorim in his new-look system.

Since taking charge last month, Amorim has been evaluating his squad and gaining valuable insights over six matches so far.

While strengthening the wingback positions appears to be a priority, bolstering the midfield is also emerging as a key focus, particularly with the possibility of departures in the summer.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro could both leave the club when the season concludes, leaving space for additions in the middle of the park.

United receive Ederson transfer boost

The Reds have long been linked with Atalanta’s standout midfielder Ederson, with speculation about a potential move intensifying ahead of the 2025 transfer windows.

The Brazilian could be a great option to improve the engine room at United but there are other European clubs also interested in the Atalanta midfielder.

Liverpool are one other Premier League outfit who have had strong links to the 25-year-old but they have now pulled out of the running for his signature.

That is according to reports from Corriere dello Sport, who state that the Merseyside club have made a “very clear decision” to avoid signing Ederson after learning about his price tag.

It was claimed that the player will cost just under £50 million, however, reports elsewhere have suggested an offer of around £42 million could be accepted.

Nevertheless, United’s rivals are said to be ‘explore other avenues’ which will give United a boost if they decide to move for Ederson in either of the next two transfer windows.

Ederson impressed United icon Hargreaves

United icon Owen Hargreaves was extremely impressed by Ederson’s performance in the Europa League final win against Bayer Leverkusen and predicted a big summer move for him.

“Ederson has been class. He’s been absolutely first class,” Hargreaves said on TNT Sports after the game.

“Ederson looks like he’s got a double out there. He’s been everywhere. Someone is going to pick him up you know. He looks tailor made for anyone’s midfield.

“He’s like two players in there! He’s making me tired watching him. A defensive midfield player running in behind at 2-0 up? It’s unbelievable.”

While Ederson ended up staying at the Italian side, Hargreaves prediction looks like it will inevitably come true soon and United may be the club to benefit.
