Manchester United revisit “concrete” 2024 target because he’s ‘perfect’ for Rúben Amorim
Manchester United have reportedly revisited talks with a “concrete” 2024 transfer target as they feel he would be a good fit for Rúben Amorim’s system.
Rúben Amorim is beginning to put his stamp on Manchester United, with the 39-year-old gaining a clearer picture of his squad.
After several weeks of training, the players are adjusting to Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, while the coach continues to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
United are also preparing their 2025 transfer plans, focusing on summer additions as the January budget remains tight.
Although Amorim has a major role in identifying areas for reinforcement, the recruitment process is being led by sporting director Dan Ashworth and director of recruitment Christopher Vivell.
A perfect fit
According to Sky Germany, United are looking at RB Leipzig defender David Raum as a player they could sign at left-back this summer.
United have struggled at left-back for the last two years, with both Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw having suffered multiple long-term injury problems, and have have only just returned to the field.
The report claims that United already held “concrete discussions” with the 26-year-old, including contract figures, last summer.
Further, the club consider Raum as a near perfect for Amorim in his wing-back system, having played at both left-back and left wing-back in his career so far. His development is being “closely monitored” by the recruitment department.
Transfer feasiability
Aside from Raum being a target United like, he is also a player who is certianly attainable.
The contacts between the club and the player last summer show that he would be open to the move, and Sky Germany claim that his agency, ROOF, have “excellent” connections to the Premier League.
Although he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, Raum is a hot commodity for the coming windows as his contract with the Bundesliga outfit is valid until 2027, meaning Leipzig’s bargaining position will start to wein.
He is currently valued at around £20 million, which puts him in the category of bargain signings such as Noussair Mazraoui.
