“I’m open…” Premier League boss admits he’d love to sign “fantastic” Manchester United star this summer

One Premier League boss has admitted that he would be open to signing a “fantastic” Manchester United star this summer amid his pending exit.

Manchester United are set for a major summer overhaul as they look to back Rúben Amorim by raising funds through player sales. A number of departures are expected as the club reshapes the squad around the new manager’s ideas.

Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen are both out of contract at the end of the season and are not expected to be retained. Their exits will mark the beginning of what could be a busy window.

The club also plan to sell players currently out on loan. Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are all likely to be moved on, with none expected to play a role under Amorim.

Casemiro is another senior figure facing an exit, as United aim to build a younger, more athletic squad suited to Amorim’s high-tempo style.

Frank “open” to Eriksen summer signing

Eriksen signed for United on a three-year contract after departing Brentford after the end of his six-month contract with the club, but it is clear that both the midfielder and the London outfit still hold each other dear.

Thomas Frank, Brentford manager and fellow Dane, spoke to Danish media on Monday, where he admitted that he would be open to welcome Eriksen back to his side once he departs United.

“Christian is a fantastic player and probably the best Danish player in recent times. I think we saw most recently against Portugal that he’s still in a really good place,” he said as relayed by Tipsladet.

“There’s no doubt that he really wants to play more and had a really good time when he was with us. I’m open to all players, but of course, there are lots of things that need to be finalised when it comes to transfers. In any case, I would say that nothing is closed.”

Further, he was asked if he had held talks with Eriksen, to which he issued a non-reply, refusing to answer either way.

“I can’t be that specific,” Frank replied coyly. “In general, I usually say that I really like to talk about the players who are here right now, and if I have to talk about others, I usually say it could be Ronaldo or Messi, as it’s a little safer to talk about. So, I can’t really answer that.”

Eriksen still wants to play at the highest level

Speaking last month, the 33-year-old himself admitted that he would like to continue playing at the highest level for as long as he can, despite reports linking him with a move back to Denmark.

“I still feel I have a few good years left abroad,” the player told Danish media. “Football-wise, I don’t feel I’m at the point where I want to move home to Denmark and play in the Superliga.”

Eriksen also ruled out a move to the United States this summer, stating: “The family will not travel that far.”

He concluded: “I haven’t seen anything I really want to try, so I’ll see what comes up and what suits me and the family.”
