One Manchester United star has reportedly confided in his friends that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United are looking to get rid of many of their fringe players this summer with INEOS looking to raise cash in order to fund new incomings during the transfer window.

While Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho, both currently on loan, are almost certainly leaving Erik ten Hag‘s squad in the next few months, some of the current playing team will also leave.

Those such as Casemiro and Victor Lindelöf have been routinely linked with moves away from the Premier League, and another midfielder has reportedly confided in friends that he is looking to leave.

According to FootballInsider, Danish international Christian Eriksen has “told his friends” that he is keen to leave the club this summer. He has made a total of 72 appearances across two seasons for United, scoring three times and providing 13 assists.

Eriksen has previously made public his displeasure at his lack of game time at United, explaining earlier this year that he had spoken to Ten Hag about it.

“I’ve said in the past that I’m not happy with not playing, but it’s not something I lose sleep over,” he said. “The team performs, and then I have to respect the role you have on the side.

“I have had a conversation with Erik [ten Hag] that, of course, I am unhappy with the situation and that I want to play as much as possible, but that I am available and must be available for the team, which I am and always will be.”

However, he then reiterated in April that, despite this, he is happy at Old Trafford, explaining that he does not know what his future holds.

“I do not know. I still have a year left on the United contract, so for now, I’m still a United player. So what will happen this summer, I don’t know.

“But I am incredibly happy to be here. It’s a great club and I feel good, so we’ll see what happens. But as I said, I have one year left.”

Eriksen started and scored in Denmark’s opening game of the 2024 European Championships, netting in a 1-1 draw with Slovenia in Group C. They will face England on Thursday.
