“Aiming high” – European manager asked about latest on signing Manchester United star
Anderlecht manager Brian Riemer has been fielding questions surrounding the potential transfer of Manchester United star Christian Eriksen this summer.
Manchester United are aiming to offload several players this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his revamped Old Trafford team seek to generate funds for new signings.
Following the acquisitions of Joshua Zirkzee for £36 million and Leny Yoro for £52 million, United are eager to maintain their sales momentum. They’ve already secured deals for Mason Greenwood (£23 million initial fee) and Willy Kambwala (£10 million), among others.

Additionally, the departures of high earners like Raphaël Varane and Anthony Martial, whose contracts have expired, have relieved the club of over £2 million per month in wages.
As per Belgian outlet DH Sport, Anderlecht manager Brian Riemer was asked about what’s happening with regards to the potential transfer of Christian Eriksen to the Belgian Pro League side this summer
“I don’t have any news for you,” Riemer replied. “Or at least, I’m not going to tell you in detail the ins and outs of each file. These are internal processes. On the other hand, I can tell you that we are working hard to have several reinforcements by the end of the transfer window on September 6.
“I can also tell you that we are on several tracks if we don’t manage to complete certain transfers. But we are aiming high.”
Although Riemer seems cryptically keen that the transfer could happen, Eriksen, himself recently stated that he is happy at United and willing to see out the final year of his contract.
“I want to play as long as possible,” the veteran Dane told reporters when asked about his future plans while in the USA.
“Now, I would say yes (to continue at an elite level), but in three years’ time, my mindset may be different, so that could be in the park or anywhere. There is a time and a place (for less game time), and I am not getting younger, but it doesn’t feel like I’m not getting younger.
“Mentally, I am still the same, but body-wise, in terms of games and how we play, sometimes it is good to have a rest, to be able to perform to 100%. I have one year left, so for me, I am a United player and for the last year as well.
“I haven’t been told [to] leave or [about an] extension. I feel good, my family is feeling good living in Manchester, and United is a nice club.”
