Manchester United midfielder now ‘set to stay’ following transfer U-turn – Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United are now set to see one of their midfielders stay this summer following a transfer U-turn from interested clubs.
Manchester United are gearing up for additional player sales this summer after spending £139 million on new signings Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
Despite the hefty expenditure, the club has managed to offset some of the costs by raking in over £55 million from the departures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, among others.

With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, United is actively seeking to strengthen its squad further by adding a new midfielder and possibly another left-back. There are strong indications that Manuel Ugarte is eager to transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to United.
In order to finance these acquisitions, United were reportedly happy to see Casemiro leave this summer, but according to a new report, this is no longer the case.
Speaking in his recent Daily Briefing column, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has explained that despite initial interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad and the player being on the market, he is now set to stay at United for his third season.
“Casemiro was on the market … this summer, and there was interest from Al Ittihad, but then their president resigned, and everything changed, and they didn’t go for Casemiro.
“It now seems like the Brazilian midfielder is staying at Old Trafford.”
This comes after UtdDistrict revealed last month that Casemiro was not on the transfer lists of any Saudi Arabian clubs this summer. The club is thought to be looking to sign a midfielder in the final weeks of the window, regardless of sales.
However, Scott McTominay may still leave United in the final weeks. Fulham have reportedly returned to the negotiating table after the London club’s £20 million bid was rejected earlier this month.
Reports have also claimed that Napoli are interested in the player, with Antonio Conte seeing the Scottish international as a priority signing.
