Manchester United star “agrees” to leave after “disgraceful” display vs Newcastle United
According to a report from Brazil, Casemiro has agreed to leave Manchester United amid his shocking performance against Newcastle United on Monday evening.
Manchester United endured another tough evening as Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United secured a commanding 2-0 victory at Old Trafford on Monday night, leaving Rúben Amorim’s side facing mounting criticism.
With Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte sidelined through suspension, Joshua Zirkzee was given a rare start in midfield. However, Newcastle struck early, with Alexander Isak heading the visitors in front after just four minutes.
Joelinton doubled the lead in the 20th minute, also with a header, as Newcastle took full control of the match. Amorim, visibly frustrated, responded by making an early tactical adjustment, substituting Zirkzee for Kobbie Mainoo in the 33rd minute.
United showed signs of life in the second half, creating more chances and coming closest when Harry Maguire’s header smashed against the post. Despite their increased urgency, the hosts failed to breach Newcastle’s organised defence.
Howe’s side comfortably saw out the match, delivering another blow to a lacklustre United as the Premier League closed out the year with a decisive result.
Casemiro agrees to leave United amid Newcastle loss
Casemiro was one of United’s worst players on the pitch during the torrid loss, with the player’s display summed up with a “disgraceful” miss at the end of the first half that would have set United on a path to a potential return in the game.
Just before half-time, a wayward pass saw Mainoo in possession at the edge of the area, where he fed Casemiro through on goal. However, the Brazilian scuffed his shot and sent the ball well wide before turning around and having a go at Mainoo for the initial pass.
According to the Brazilian outlet UOL, Casemiro has agreed to leave United, with the Saudi Investment Fund determined to secure him in the January transfer window.
Casemiro’s status at the club has declined since Amorim’s arrival, which is said to be speeding up the transfer process. It is reported that Casemiro himself is in favour of the move to Saudi Arabia.
However, the Fund is yet to decide which of their clubs they want to send the 32-year-old to, as they are waiting to confirm the number of foreign players in the squads of Al-Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al-Ettifaq, and Al-Qadisiyah, as there is a limit.
Ronaldo is influencing the transfer decision
Further, the report confirms Casemiro’s move to Saudi Arabia is influenced by former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese footballing legend has a fantastic relationship with Casemiro following their stints together at Real Madrid and then Old Trafford.
The 39-year-old is said to be pushing for Casemiro to join his current side Al-Nassr, who very much appreciate Casemiro.
Casemiro has no plans to return to Brazil despite potential interest. As his contract with United is expiring in 2026, United want to move him on as soon as they can to secure funds for the January transfer window.
