Manchester United ‘rule out’ two signings as double transfer agreed and one more expected
Manchester United have reportedly ruled out two transfers, with two exits having been agreed and a further expected in the coming days.
Following the singings of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui for a gross expenditure of £139 million, Manchester United are in the process of raising money through sales for further transfers.
They have already notched a total of £55 million through the departures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, among others, and are looking at other market opportunities before the window shuts next Thursday evening.

United are interested in signing at least one midfielder before the 30 August deadline, and the club see Paris St. Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte as their ideal target in the position. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player is “pushing like crazy” to join the Old Trafford outfit.
However, although there have been rumours that United may also further strengthen in other positions, The Athletic have now reported that they have ruled against signing another left-back this summer.
United currently have both first-team left-backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, unavailable due to injury, but it seems that their further auxiliary cover of Lisandro Martínez, Mazraoui, and Diogo Dalot has been deemed sufficient.
Furthermore, Romano also revealed the other day that the club would not be going in for another centre-back, despite deep interest in Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
Despite United ideally wanting to sign three central defenders this summer and Branthwaite having agreed on personal terms with the club, with Victor Lindelöf and Harry Maguire likely staying at Old Trafford, they will not go in for the player.
Meanwhile, two exits have now been sanctioned and are due to be completed in the coming days. Winger Facundo Pellistri is set to sign for Greek side Panathinaikos in a deal worth around £5.1 million.
Further, 21-year-old academy defender Will Fish has secured a move away from Old Trafford to Championship side Cardiff City despite suffering an injury against Liverpool in pre-season.
Several second-tier clubs had reportedly expressed interest in signing Fish, either on loan or permanently. However, Cardiff, who have been admirers of his for some time, have reached an agreement with United.
Fish, eager to secure regular first-team football at a competitive level after a successful loan spell with Hibernian last season, will now have the opportunity to do so at Cardiff. He will join the squad once he recovers from his injury.
Finally, despite rumours that several more players could depart United in the next week and a half, one more is expected—Hannibal Mejbri.
After it was claimed that the 21-year-old had handed in a transfer request, United were said to be prepared to sanction his departure, and it now looks likely that he will leave the club on a permanent deal.
Recent reports have claimed that Burnley are interested in a loan with a mandatory buy clause for Mejbri, and that talks have started.
Although the transfer is not yet close or agreed upon, as Burney did not originally expect the terms of the deal, the Championships side has reached out to both United and the the player’s representatives.
