Manchester United eyeing Champions League star for summer swoop, he can be the ‘next Casemiro’

Manchester United are reportedly interested in the Swiss midfielder following his impressive Champions League campaign with Belgium team Club Brugge.

Ruben Amorim has a job on his hands to rebuild this Manchester United team over the summer transfer window with one key area highlighted being the squad’s midfield.

The club will be desperately trying to avoid making the same mistakes as seasons passed, with big-money players such as Antony and Jadon Sancho now out of the club on loan after failing to impress.

The team are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table, in 13th place, and their only chance of silverware this season is the Europa League trophy.

According to multiple reports, an overhaul in the squad this summer could see the Red Devils get rid of around ten current players, allowing room for Amorim to bring in a multitude of new talent.

United interested in Jashari after standout season

22-year-old Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari has gained high praise this season, being named Man of the Match in Brugge’s Champions League knockout fixture against Serie A outfit Atalanta, which the Belgium team won 3-1.

He has been described as a ‘well-rounded prospect who can operate as a box-to-box midfielder,’ with some believing he possesses the skillset and energy to become a potential replacement for tiring Brazilian Casemiro.

Jashari is said to be attracting attention from multiple clubs in Europe, with heightened interest coming from the Premier League and Serie A. Still, Italian publication Calcio Mercato claim that United are considering a swoop for the young prospect.

Wherever he does go, one thing is for certain, Brugge will be set to earn a pretty penny in profit for his departure, having paid only £5 million for him last year.

Jashari is of the ‘best players in Belgium’

Steven Defour, who played in the Premier League for Burnley and was at one point their record signing, has been vocal in his praise of the talented midfielder.

His comments have been relayed by Belgian publication Voetbal Primeur, with the ex-Turf Moor man claiming that Jashari is ready made for the league, stating: “He is the best player in our league and perhaps even one of the best of the last ten years.”

“His combination of energy, aggression and calmness on the ball is unique. He reads the game excellently and is technically strong enough to compete at the highest level.

The time when it was all about running and pounding is long gone. His dynamism and way of playing forward would not be out of place at a team from the English sub-top.”
