Manchester United have seemingly reversed their January transfer decision surrounding Antony following the appointment of Rúben Amorim.

Manchester United have appointed Rúben Amorim as the club’s new head coach, with the 39-year-old set to start at his new club on 11 November.

Many changes are expected in the coming months, with Amorim likely to change the system the players are used to playing, bringing in future transfers and potentially selling some of the current squad.

Various reports have stated that the club are set to become active in the January market, whether that be offloading players or signing further talent for the squad.

While Amorim will have a say on signings, if reports are to be believed, he will not have a direct veto like Erik ten Hag did in his contract with the club.

A transfer u-turn

According to reports last month, United had set a price tag of £40 million for Brazilian winger Antony and were happy to let him go on loan in January.

However, according to famed trainer journalist Gianluca di Marzio, this is no longer the case, as Amorim’s appointment means Antony is no longer a player they want to sell.

“The truth is that Antony can find his place at Man United under another manager now,” Di Marzio told BonusCodeBets. “A lot of players at Man United have had problems not playing up to their best, but he definitely has another chance under another coach.”

“Antony is not a player they just want to get rid of. He needs to have a team around him where his skills and his talent can shine.”

“Of course, they will take the decision in January, but I think he will get a chance under another manager.”
