Juventus are reportedly getting ready to offer one Manchester United outcast the chance to escape the Premier League after a difficult time under Rúben Amorim.

Manchester United have spent the past year trying to offload players on inflated wages as Sir Jim Ratcliffe works to stabilise the club’s finances.

After sending Jadon Sancho to Chelsea last summer, United continued their clear-out last month, loaning Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa and allowing Antony to join Real Betis for the rest of the season—moves that have reduced the club’s wage bill by over £2 million per month.

The winter window also saw several academy graduates depart, along with Tyrell Malacia, who left on loan. However, these deals were more about securing game time for fringe players in Rúben Amorim’s squad than cutting costs.

Despite these efforts, United still have several high earners on their books, with the contracts of Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and Mason Mount regularly criticised by fans as poor financial decisions.

Juventus readying offer for United outcast

With United still looking to raise as much cash as possible this summer to fund new signings for Amorim, they chose to loan out those such as Rashford and Antony as part of an effort to raise the players’ values.

Rashford put in a fantastic display against Chelsea on Saturday evening, with Villa securing a £40 million buy opinion in his loan agreement, while Antony has stunned those in Spain through his brilliant performances with Betis.

According to Fichajes, Antony’s performances have now caught the eye of Italian side Juventus, who have now joined the race to sign the player this summer.

The report states that the Serie A giants are looking to add a “a skillful and vertical profile” to their front line, and Antony seemingly fits the bill.

Juventus are said to be ready to enter the bidding for the player outcast from Amorim’s United squad, although if Antony continues to perform how he has been at Betis, United will no doubt be demanding a hefty fee.

United set for at least £100 million this summer

With United focusing on sales, it seems as if the club will be set to raise at least £100 million this summer.

First off, once Sancho’s loan at Chelsea expires, the West London outfit will purchase him for £25 million as per the buy obligation in his current deal.

As mentioned above, Aston Villa have a £40 million option to purchase Rashford this summer, and even if the Birmingham outfit choose not to activate the clause, it’s likely the winger will leave United for at least that fee.

United also have a 50% sell-on clause in Mason Greenwood’s Marseille contract, and Paris St. Germain are rumoured to be considering a bid of over £60 million for the player, meaning United may receive another £30 million.

These three figures, plus the likely sale of Antony, would set United at over £100 million in capital raised for Amorim’s squad amid the club’s ever-growing financial uncertainty.
