Rúben Amorim may only have one return at best to his squad as he prepares Manchester United to face Tottenham Hotspur in a Sunday afternoon Premier League tie.

Manchester United are gearing up for their return to Premier League action with an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.

The two sides have already faced off in North London this season, with Spurs emerging victorious in a thrilling 4-3 encounter that saw Rúben Amorim’s side knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Both teams have endured similarly underwhelming campaigns so far, occupying 13th and 14th place in the table, with United holding a two-point advantage over their hosts.

With both managers under scrutiny, the upcoming clash carries significant weight—defeat for United would hinder Amorim’s progress, while another loss for Spurs would add to the growing pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

Amorim’s squad options haven’t changed

Although there are nine days between United’s win over Leicester City and the incoming Spurs tie, Amorim may not have any further squad options to add to the team that faced Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw was in training last week, but he was ruled out of the Leicester clash after it was confirmed he had suffered a setback in his injury recovery. There was hope he would reappear in training this week, but as of yet, he has not been spotted.

Altay Bayındır missed the FA Cup clash due to a minor problem, and although his injury is not thought to be serious, he was not spotted in United’s training during the photos released on Tuesday.

With Tom Heaton also not around due to a muscle complaint, Hubert Graczyk may be included on the bench once again as André Onana’s backup.

Other than this, Jonny Evans remains out with a minor muscle problem, while Mason Mount is expected to remain out of action until next month.

Lisandro Martínez is recovering after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament against Crystal Palace and is expected to undergo surgery this week before starting rehabilitation.

Beyond this, there are other current problems for Amorim, and the same squad that arrived at Old Trafford to face Leicester is expected to travel to North London, with the possibility of Bayındır being included th only potential change should he return to training later this week.
