Manchester United star left Tom Howard “utterly shocked” following interview comments
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard said that he was left “utterly shocked” by the comments of one of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United stars.
Manchester United have embarked on their third season under Erik ten Hag, and the squad now looks vastly different from the side he took over in 2022.
David de Gea, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Eric Bailly and others all left the club, while the Dutchman has brought many new faces to Old Trafford.

André Onana joined the club in 2023 from Inter Milan in a £45 million deal, and many fans were a little shocked at the change from De Gea to Onana, considering the vastly different styles of the two goalkeepers.
Onana is known for being a very risky player who trusts the ball with his feet, and speaking in a recent interview, the Cameroon international told fans to expect more risks with him from now onwards.
“That’s me, and I think it’s what you’re going to see this season because I will take a lot of risks,” Onana explained.
“I can tell you in advance already! Be prepared because it’s going to be this season, trust me! I will enjoy it more when this season starts.”
While the reaction to said comments has been mixed, Tim Howard has explained that these comments left him “utterly shocked”, and that instead, Onana should work on making his game more simple.
“I’m rarely surprised at things in football, I was utterly shocked to hear Onana say ‘be prepared I will take a lot more risks this season’,” Howard told NBC Sports ahead of United’s 1-0 win over Fulham.
“He conceded 58 goals; that number has to come down; he can ill-afford to make too many mistakes.
“Some of the goals that went past him were very, very saveable. The fact he’s willing to take more risks, I guess, is exciting and compelling; I wasn’t convinced last year, but right now, he has a lot to prove.
“He has brilliant ability, but he hasn’t put that into place, and too many goals are going in that need to be saved.”
