A “world-class” manager has reportedly rejected Manchester United after Sir Jim Ratcliffe drew up a shortlist of Erik ten Hag replacements.

Erik ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager is under increasing pressure after a third Premier League defeat in six games this season.

The team have dropped to 13th in the league table, and a disappointing home draw against FC Twente in the Europa League has only intensified fan discontent, with many now calling for Ten Hag to be sacked.

The recent 3-0 loss to Tottenham and a 3-3 draw against Porto have been particularly damaging. Ten Hag’s sides have looked disorganised and chaotic despite featuring eight of his own signings.

In the Porto match, United let a 2-0 lead slip, with Harry Maguire’s stoppage-time header salvaging a point after Bruno Fernandes was sent off late in the game.

Following the criticism, many are speculating that the upcoming fixture against Aston Villa may be Ten Hag’s final game in charge of the Reds, and United have been strongly linked to Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi.

Inzaghi, who is the younger sibling of former AC Milan marksman Filippo Inzaghi, is reportedly drawing attention from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team who now lead the footballing department at Old Trafford.

However, Inzaghi, who has been described as a “world-class” manager, has reportedly rejected the chance to manage Manchester United after being added to their shortlist of Ten Hag replacements.

According to Fabrizio Biasin, United have been courting Inzaghi for months and recently had a phone call with the 48-year-old through an intermediary.

However, given that it would be impossible for the Italian manager to leave his current post at Inter Milan, he politely declined the offer to take over during the upcoming international break.
