Manchester United starlet Harry Amass has signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford after signing for the club from Watford last summer.
The 17-year-old left-back joined the club in August last year in an exciting window for the academy. United also snatched Tyler and Jack Fletcher from Manchester City.
Amass had been a regular in the England youth set-up before the move and even managed to be named on the Watford first-team bench for an FA Cup tie against Reading in January 2023.
Since his transfer, the young left-back has been a key player during the superb campaign from the Under-18s, which included a staggering 17-game unbeaten run in the league.
After appearing in first-team training with Erik ten Hag’s squad last month, Amass was awarded with his debut for the Under-21s at the beginning of March. This coincided with the Under-18’s first defeat of the league season against Manchester City the following day.
Amass was arguably the Man of the Match in the reverse fixture against The Cityzens back in January, where Adam Lawrence’s side came out 1-0 victors.
Now, on his 17th birthday, Amass has been rewarded by signing his first professional contract at Old Trafford.
“Proud moment for me and my family to sign my first professional contract,” wrote Amass on Instagram.
With problems at left-back in the first-team squad, many fans are hoping that Amass could prove to be a valuable answer in the long-term.
It has been reported by Darragh Moloney that the 17-year-old has a strong chance of being included in United’s pre-season tour of the United States this summer.
Luke Shaw could be at Euro 2024 with England, whilst Tyrell Malacia’s return from injury is still unknown after various setbacks.
