Manchester United predicted squad vs FCSB as Rúben Amorim avoids triple injury scare (Europa League)
Rúben Amorim has avoided a triple injury scare as he selects his Manchester United squad to face FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Manchester United are preparing for their final Europa League group stage match as they head to Romania to take on FCSB on Thursday evening.
After a slow start to the competition, drawing their first three matches, United have turned things around with four consecutive wins. This resurgence has lifted them from 21st to 4th in the standings, with Rúben Amorim targeting the Europa League as an opportunity to claim his first trophy at the club.
United’s recent European victory came against Rangers last week, followed by a narrow 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League. With four wins from six matches in 2025, they are building momentum, but FCSB will present a tough challenge.
Currently sitting 8th in the table, the Romanian side need a win to secure a place in the top eight, which offers automatic qualification for the knockout rounds.
Teams finishing between 9th and 24th must navigate a two-legged play-off to progress, while the bottom eight will be eliminated from the competition altogether.
Amorim avoids triple injury scare last week
Against Rangers last week, both Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt had to be withdrawn early while Noussair Mazraoui was ruled out of the fixture entirely.
However, all three players were afforded minutes during the subsequent fixture against Fulham.
Yoro came on as a substitute while De Ligt and Mazraoui started, although the former was withdrawn shortly before 60 minutes, putting a further slight question mark on his fitness.
Beyond this, the United boss confirmed that his squad had suffered no further injury issues, meaning there will likely be no extra additions or subtractions from the squad that faced Fulham.
After the tie, Amorim was asked why he continue to bar Rashford from the team, to which he explained that he does not want to add players who do not give it all in training.
“If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player,” he said. “And you can see it today on the bench, we miss a little bit of pace to go, to change the game, to move some pieces, but I prefer it like that.
“I will put [Jorge] Vital [goalkeeping coach] before I put a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day, so I will not change in that part.”
With Amorim also able to add another three players to his Europa League squad compared to the Premier League, and United set to train in Bucharest on Friday, he may also take some academy players with him, such as goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk.
