Manchester United are locked in negotiations with Kobbie Mainoo’s representatives over a new contract at Old Trafford with improved wages.

Kobbie Mainoo emerged as a key player for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag last season, making his full Premier League debut in November 2023.

He solidified his status as a key player with a winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City and then shone for England at Euro 2024.

However, his second season has been less impactful, hampered by injuries and the adjustment to Ruben Amorim’s system.

The 19-year-old’s current contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2027 but the club have been trying to find an agreement to improved terms on a longer deal.

Reports have been flying around about Mainoo’s demands, which are said to be between £150,000-per-week to £180,000-per week depending on what you read.

It has even been claimed by some reports that the midfielder will reject United’s upcoming contract offer and look for a move abroad if his demands aren’t matched.

Mainoo is currently on around £20,000-per-week at Old Trafford and wants his new salary to reflect his status as an important first-team member.

UtdDistrict have noted the top 10 earners at United, with the information being provided by capology.com, a football finance and salaries website. Of course, it is also important to note that reports on player salaries can often differ depending on what source you read.

10: Joshua Zirkzee (£105k)

Joshua Zirkzee joining United from Bologna in the latest summer transfer window for a reported £35 million fee.

He is said to be on around £105,000-per-week at Old Trafford and has a contract until the summer of 2029.

9: Leny Yoro (£115k)

Leny Yoro was another signing United made last summer alongside Zirkzee. His arrival was a surprise due to Real Madrid’s interest and joined for £52 million.

The young French defender is claimed to be earning £115,000-per-week, slightly more than his Dutch counterpart.

8: Manuel Ugarte, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf, Andre Onana and Amad (£120k)

There are various United players earning £120,000-per-week, which is the eighth-highest wage on the squad list.

Capology claim that Manuel Ugarte, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf, Andre Onana and Amad are all earning that amount.

Amad recently signed a new long-term contract at the club while Onana, Martínez and Ugarte all joined the club in the last three years.

Lindelöf is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, with there being no plans to extend his contract which runs out in June.

7: Noussair Mazraoui (£135k)

Another recent signing, Noussair Mazraoui is reported to be on £135,000-per-week after his summer move from Bayern Munich.

6: Christian Eriksen, Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho (£150k)

United currently have Christian Eriksen and Luke Shaw earning £150,000-per-week, while the club are also paying that amount for Jadon Sancho whilst on loan at Chelsea.

That number does significantly change depending on the source, with MailSport claiming that the Reds only pay £50,000-per-week for Sancho at the moment=.

5: Harry Maguire (£190k)

Harry Maguire is the fourth-highest earning player in the current United squad, with the defender said to be on £190,000-per-week at Old Trafford.

Maguire had the one-year extension option activated in his contract earlier this season, meaning that his deal now runs until the summer of 2026.

4: Matthijs de Ligt (£195k)

Matthijs de Ligt is the fourth-highest earning United player at present and the highest-earning player signed in the most recent summer transfer window.

The Dutch defender earns a reported £195,000-per-week, slightly more than Maguire.

3: Mason Mount (£250k)

Mason Mount joined the club in the summer of 2023 but has been plagued by injuries since then and failed to make a significant impact.

He is the third-highest earner at Old Trafford right now, taking £250,000-per-week, which seems like crazy money for the impact he’s had on the pitch thus far.

2: Bruno Fernandes (£300k)

United captain Bruno Fernandes is now the second-highest earning player at United after signing a contract extension in the summer.

The Portuguese midfielder is now said to be on £300,000-per-week after penning a new deal until the summer of 2027.

1: Casemiro (£350k)

United’s highest-earning player is currently Casemiro, who joined the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian is reported earning £350,000-per-week at the club despite playing a squad role under Ruben Amorim. Transfer reports are linking him with a summer exit for that reason.
