Five Manchester United players have been tipped to survive Rúben Amorim’s squad culling this summer, although one has reportedly already agreed a move away.

There is an expectation that many players will depart Old Trafford this summer as Rúben Amorim looks to completely overhaul the Manchester United squad has has inherited from Erik ten Hag.

There are multiple players who will leave due to expiring contracts, with Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans, and Tom Heaton all departing in June.

However, others are expected to be sold too, with the club wanting Casemiro’s high wages off the books while Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are not part of Amorim’s plans.

Meanwhile, there are also continuing rumours floating around about the possible sales of high-value Academy players such as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, as their sales represent “pure profit” on club books and would alleviate financial pressure.

Five players tipped to survive summer cull

While almost every player bar Leny Yoro and Amad are seen as possible summer sales, five of United’s finest have been tipped to survive the club’s pending exodus.

Speaking to Yaysweepstakes, former United defender Mikael Silvestre explained that he feels Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Mainoo, Garnacho, and Mazraoui will all likely stay at the club while he also is waiting to see how new signing Patrick Dorgu settles in.

“Bruno is committed, he wants to fight. You also have players like Amad, who has been a tremendous and a wonderful player – he has been the breakout star at United this season.

“The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo is encouraging, Alejandro Garnacho is finding his feet, Noussair Mazraoui has had a decent first season then with Patrick Dorgu, let’s wait and see.

“United have players that look like they will be stars in the future. These players are going to hopefully be part of the next generation, Amorim’s first proper team, because at the moment, he’s the manager, but these are not his players.

“It’s a big job at United for Amorim in the summer. I think all of the guys I mentioned can be part of things moving forward, they can be part of the rebuild.”

One player has ‘already agreed’ to leave

Unfortunately for Silvestre, one of the five he mentioned as survivors of the summer has already agreed to leave Old Trafford.

According to reports from Spain, Garnacho has struck a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid to re-sign for the La Liga outfit five seasons after he departed the club.

It’s stated that Amorim does not see the 20-year-old as part of his long-term plans at Old Trafford, and as a consequence of this, United are happy to let him depart for £42 million.

The transfer is seen by those at the La Liga club as a “strategic move” to add to the growing number of young and talented players on Atleti’s books, with Simeone wanting to add to the flank that supplies striker Julián Álvarez.
