Manchester United ‘keeping tabs’ on Real Madrid striker to support Rasmus Hojlund
According to reports from Spain, Manchester United have identified Real Madrid striker Joselu as a potential summer signing to help in Rasmus Hojlund’s development.
In his first season at the club, Højlund is currently the club’s top scorer in all competitions, with the Danish striker scoring thirteen goals so far this campaign.
However, with Anthony Martial injured for the majority of this season, the pressure to lead United’s attack has almost exclusively fallen on Højlund’s shoulders.

At just 21 years old, Højlund has already made thirty-one appearances for the club in his debut season, combined with the pressures of living up to his £72 million transfer fee.
As claimed by Spanish publication Relevo, United have acknowledged this is an issue, with the Red Devils seeking out solutions to their attacking predicament.
One such solution is Real Madrid‘s Joselu, who, according to the report from Revelo, ticks several boxes that United’s scouts are looking for in their next striker.
Firstly, Joselu has Premier League experience, having spent time playing for both Stoke City and Newcastle in the competition.
Additionally, United are believed to be looking for a striker who can play with his back to goal, and who is also at least competent in their finishing ability.
With thirteen goals and three assists, Joselu currently finds himself excelling during a loan spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid from fellow La Liga side Espanyol.
Joselu, 34, is believed to be happy with his role in Madrid. Though he would like more minutes if they were available, his priority is to stay at the club.
Importantly, it was noted in the report that though Joselu may like to extend his stay at Real, his final decision will not be made until the end of the season.
United’s pursuit of Joselu will remind fans of the Red Devils of a regular theme of the club’s recruitment over the last ten years.
With funds often stretched thin, United have made a habit of signing ‘short-term’ striker solutions. This pattern has allowed names such as; Wout Weghorst, Radamel Falcao, and Odion Ighalo to join the team temporarily.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were all signed in a bid to bring senior reinforcements to United’s frontline.
