Manchester United weighing up taking advantage of Real Madrid’s big transfer decision
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing taking advantage of a big transfer decision from Real Madrid amid their centre-back hunt.
Manchester United aim to bolster their defence by signing multiple centre-halves this summer following a disappointing season under Erik ten Hag.
Last season, the team conceded over eighty goals across all competitions, with frequent injuries disrupting their defensive stability. Over 30 different defensive combinations were used in 52 competitive matches during the 2023/24 season.

INEOS has been evaluating potential defenders for the 2024 summer transfer window, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Jean-Clair Todibo being top targets. Recently, a new option has emerged in their considerations.
United were fairly heavily linked with Lille central defender Leny Yoro earlier this year. The 18-year-old centre-back impressed greatly during a season in which the French side finished fourth in Ligue 1.
His performances have been so impressive that Real Madrid are seemingly keen on the player. However, a stumbling block has appeared, with the La Liga side refusing to spend what they believe are over the odds for the player and seemingly trying to agree a deal for around £25 million.
With Real Madrid stalling, United’s interest in Yoro has resurfaced, and ESPN have explained that the Old Trafford club are still keeping an eye on the young star. Although the club are interested, they are yet to fully commit to a deal.
Lille seemingly want a fee closer to £50 million, and should Madrid fail to agree with Lille on a transfer fee, United may well swoop in to try and beat Los Blancos to the chase.
