Man Utd ready to commit for £88m-rated Spanish playmaker with exciting double deal ‘in the works’

Manchester United are exploring the potential of signing the freshest LaLiga midfielder for a reduced fee in January, with Ruben Amorim now looking at two new recruits.

Manchester United are looking stronger under Ruben Amorim as their Premier League form looks improved with a current stretch of five games unbeaten.

The most recent game coming away from home to Tottenham Hotspur which took a late Matthijs De Ligt header to earn a point in a close 2-2 contest.

Whilst United look to be a stronger squad, question marks remain over how future-proof the squad is, with United’s current midfield duo of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro being 31 and 33 years old. United will look to invest in a player who can adopt the defensive midfield role in the near future.

A new target has appeared for Amorim’s side as they now look at the potential for a double deal, revolutionising their midfield.

Man Utd show interest in Anderson and Guerra

United are looking into the possibility of bringing in LaLiga midfielder Javi Guerra from Valencia for a potential reduced fee in January to be the first of two midfield profiles brought into Amorim’s system.

The 22-year-old may not be on the top of Amorim’s list, but he could provide essential depth in a position where United do look vulnerable, as the current alternatives appear to be an underperforming Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo, who Amorim doesn’t see as the solution to the issue.

With the futures of Fernandes and Casemiro up in the air, there is a serious need for some investments, and another profile could be Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

The 22-year-old put on an impressive display in United’s 2-2 draw at The City Ground, carrying a role of being the engine to the Forest attacks making line-breaking passes and carrying the ball up the pitch.

According to TeamTalk, United want to sign one midfielder in the winter and one in the summer, with Anderson top of their summer list but likely to cost a major fee.

Anderson looks to have a heavier price tag on him due to his proven ability in the Premier League, so the possibility of signing Guerra is beginning to show signs of hope again.

What Guerra and Anderson could bring to United’s midfield

Guerra is commonly known as a box-to-box midfielder, often credited for his work in both an attacking and defensive capacity through his impressive ball carrying and distribution.

He shows a similar profile to Anderson in their efficiency on the ball and ability to transition up the pitch, but Guerra would hold a significantly reduced price tag, as reported by Fichajes. United identified the midfielder in the previous summer, but he was fresh off signing a new contract for Valencia.

An offer in the region of £44 million is a rough estimate when considering Valencia’s current poor league form, as they currently sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference, which is a bargain compared to his £88 million release clause.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Guerra’s physical profile suits the Premier League and combined with his athleticism with progressing the ball, he could become a staple piece in Amorim’s midfield.

Whilst the price range for Anderson looks more likely around the £100 million mark, this looks far less likely as a winter transfer given United’s current financial capabilities. It could also mean that Manchester United say goodbye to Mainoo, who still cannot cement his place in the starting lineup.
