Man Utd outcast ‘staying in contact’ for summer transfer, Michael Carrick already has his replacement

Having been previously linked with a move to Turkey, Beşiktaş have maintained contact with Manchester United as they plan to push for a summer exit.

The goalkeeping role has been a source of uncertainty for Manchester United since David De Gea departed in 2023. His successor, André Onana, endured a difficult two-year spell, while Altay Bayındır has yet to prove he can be relied upon as a consistent first-choice option at the start of this season.

Having made only 52 appearances in the Belgian Pro League before his move to Old Trafford, there were understandable doubts about whether Senne Lammens could cope with the pressure of becoming the club’s starting goalkeeper. However, he has quickly put those concerns to rest with his performances.

Since his debut, Lammens has brought composure and stability to United’s defence. His assured handling of crosses is just one example of strength in an area that had previously caused problems for both Bayındır and Onana.

After several turbulent seasons in the goalkeeping department, including De Gea’s decline in his final two campaigns and Onana’s inconsistent spell at the club, Lammens has already shown that he has the quality to establish himself as United’s number one. At 23, he still has significant room to develop further.

Besiktas pushing for Bayındır transfer in the summer

Bayındır started Manchester United’s opening six games of the season, but once Lammens made his first start, the Turkish goalkeeper found himself on the sidelines.

Having slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old goalkeeper may look for a move elsewhere to play regular first-team football.

As reported by Sport Witness, Besiktas have stayed in contact with Manchester United over a move for the keeper in the summer.

This comes after the Turkish side stepped up a ‘frantic search’ to secure a goalkeeper during the January transfer window, with Bayındır being one of the names on the list.

Summer exit makes sense

During the January transfer window, United made it clear that they weren’t in a position to lose the Turkish international, with 39-year-old Tom Heaton being the only back-up keeper should Bayındır have been sold.

Besiktas have long shown interest in the 27-year-old, with a report last November stating that they were looking to bring the Turkish international back to the Süper Lig.

An exit this summer makes much more sense for both United and Bayındır. Although he is unlikely to be used by Michael Carrick, he still has a key role to play in the squad as the main backup option for Lammens.

With the highly talented Radek Vitek out on loan at Bristol City, United may already have a solid backup option within the club, and with there being a good chance that Onana will leave the club in the summer in search of regular game time, funds from both sales could be key in securing the club’s many midfield targets in the summer transfer window.
