Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford transfer plan outlined as new twist emerges
A new twist has emerged as Manchester United’s current transfer plans for Marcus Rashford emerge amid interest from Serie A club AC Milan.
Marcus Rashford seems on the verge of leaving Manchester United in 2025 after a revealing interview confirmed the 27-year-old’s ambition to seek a fresh challenge.
A key figure during Erik ten Hag’s tenure, Rashford’s incredible 30-goal campaign in 2022/23 now feels like a distant memory. Under Rúben Amorim, his influence has waned, with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes preferred in pivotal attacking roles.
The winger has not been involved in United’s last six fixtures, being omitted from the matchday squad entirely for five and remaining an unused substitute against Newcastle.
Rashford’s journey with United spans nearly two decades, highlighted by his unforgettable debut as an 18-year-old. He scored twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League and followed it up with another brace against Arsenal in his Premier League debut.
With United reportedly open to bids of around £40 million, Rashford’s departure appears all but certain, signaling the end of a remarkable era at Old Trafford as he looks to embark on a new chapter in his career.
United’s Rashford transfer plan has a new twist
As has been reported extensively this week, Rashford’s brother and representative, Dwayne Maynard, flew to Italy to meet with Serie A outfit AC Milan, who have since put in a formal offer for the player of a loan with an option to buy, provided United cover some of his wages.
However, according to Sky Sports transfer specialist Dharmesh Sheth, United’s view on the matter is that Rashford’s future is far from solved.
According to the journalist, United are aware that Maynard flew to speak with Milan, and they expected a number of formal approaches to be made surrounding th eplayer.
United are currently discussing whether the best course of action would be to allow the player to leave on a straight loan or with an option to buy, but all options are still open at this stage.
The twist comes as Sheth clarifies that, in contrast to popular belief, there is still a door open that may see Rashford remain at the club as they may choose not to allow him to leave, depending on where they feel their best interests lie.
Regarding a permanent departure, Sheth clarifies that this will more likely be assessed in the summer window rather than January as United is focused on increasing its market value before then.
What is Rashford’s current transfer value?
According to the popular football website TransferMarkt, Rashford’s current value sits at around £45 million.
However, this is far from his peak valuation, which was reached in March 2021 and sat at around £70 million, although circumstances at the time would have meant United may not have sold the player for well over £100 million.
This £70 million valuation stood until December 2021 before taking a sharp drop, although a second peak of £66 million was hit in March 2023 a few months before he signed a new five-year contract before a steady decline has led us to the current £45 million mark.
Reports last month suggested that United would be open to offers of around £40 million, although there is no doubt that they will be hoping his market value will rise in the coming months and they will be able to sell him for higher should they choose to offload him.
However, his wages, which are rumoured to sit at around £325,000 a week, will no doubt be an issue for any club looking to bring him onboard permenantly.
