A new Premier League club has emerged as a contender to take Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Marcus Rashford is set to depart Manchester United in 2025 after a groundbreaking interview in which the 27-year-old expressed his desire for a new challenge.

Rashford, who once shone as United’s talisman with a 30-goal season under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23, has struggled to maintain that level of performance. Under Rúben Amorim, he has fallen out of favour, with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes becoming key players in United’s attacking setup.

A lifelong Red, Rashford’s journey began nearly 20 years ago. As an 18-year-old, he burst onto the scene with a memorable debut, scoring twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League and another brace days later against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Reports suggest United are now willing to entertain offers in the region of £40 million, making Rashford’s departure from Old Trafford almost inevitable as he seeks to start a new chapter in his career.

Tottenham register loan interest in Rashford

With multiple clubs now considering bringing in Rashford as a loan signing following his diminishing status at Old Trafford, the Daily Mail have shed some light on who is contending for his signature.

According to the report, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have registered their intent to take the English winger on loan in the January window.

Ange Postecoglu’s side have not struggled for goals at points this season, scoring 42 in the Premier League, but results have left them sitting 12th in the table, just one point above United in 13th.

However, it’s detailed that they may face competition from Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan for their signature, with other reports indicating that the latter have submitted a formal loan offer with an option to buy.

It is also written that both Italian club Juventus and Turkish outfit Galatasaray are eyeing the player, with Galatasaray potentially losing loanee Victor Osimhen this month if his £62 million Napoli release clause is activated.

What United are currently thinking about Rashford

It has been reported by Sky Sports that United may still keep Rashford at the club as they are assessing what option is in their best interests.

United are aware that Rashford’s representative and brother Wayne Maynard flew to Italy to talk with Milan, but it’s made clear that United may well choose to keep the player.

Their focus is choosing the best move that will increase his value in the coming months, whether that be going on loan to find minutes in a new environment or staying at the club and reinstalling him within Amorim’s set-up.

However, it’s also mentioned that United will likely focus on a permanent sale in the summer. Finding a club that will come close to his £325,000 a week wages at United may be a challenge.
