Portuguese media react to “terror” Marcus Rashford, only one Manchester United star ‘was better’
Following Manchester United’s 3-3 draw with FC Porto, Portuguese media said only one Erik ten Hag man was better than “terror” Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United managed to earn a point against Porto in the Europa League, thanks to a late header from Harry Maguire.
The match began with high energy, as Marcus Rashford opened the scoring, followed by Rasmus Højlund doubling the lead after just 20 minutes. Both goals were set up by errors from Porto’s goalkeeper, Diogo Costa.

However, Porto quickly fought back, netting two goals in seven minutes. Samu Omorodion and Pepe levelled the score before the half-time break, dramatically altering the match’s dynamics.
In the second half, Porto took the lead when a cutback from their right flank enabled Samu to score his second goal of the night. United’s defence struggled to handle the pressure.
Bruno Fernandes was sent off for the second consecutive game with 15 minutes left to play. After several impressive saves from André Onana, Maguire equalized with a header from a Christian Eriksen corner, ensuring a point for Erik ten Hag’s team.
Rashford was a “terror”
Following the game, the local media had their say, and ZeroZero highlighted Rashford for his “terror” display, noting that it was odd Ten Hag chose to substitute the winger at half-time.
“The Englishman was a nightmare for FC Porto’s defence in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch,” the Portuguese outlet wrote.
“A terror in dribbling and driving, he scored and provided assists. Ten Hag explained the winger’s departure as rotation. There are things that are difficult to explain.”
Man United’s “outstanding” star
However, ZeroZero then highlighted a further United star who they thought was “outstanding” at the Estádio do Dragão, which was Cristian Eriksen.
The Danish international was the club’s highest-rated player on the evening, with an 8/10. This was level with Porto’s Samu Omorodion, who also received an 8/10. In contrast, Rashford received a 7/10.
“A player involved in all three of the English goals… He was the Red Devils ‘ most outstanding player in the game,” they said of Eriksen.
The 32-year-old finished the evening with two assists, setting up Marcus Rashford for the opening goal and teeing up Maguire for his last-minute equalising header with a perfectly-hit cross from a corner.
Eriksen has now amassed three goals and three assists so far this season and has forced his way into Ten Hag’s consideration after being benched for the side’s opening three ties of the campaign.
