33 touches, 2 dribbles – Manchester United loanee praised for “excellent” debut performance
Manchester United loanee Ethan Ennis was praised for an “excellent” performance in his full debut for Doncaster Rovers.
Ennis, 20, joined Doncaster Rovers on loan earlier this month and had made two appearances from the bench before being offered his full debut this weekend.
The Manchester United youngster impressed in cameos against Hull City and Gillingham, both which ended in victory for Rovers.
On Saturday afternoon he was named in the starting XI for the very first time. The versatile forward was operating in the no.10 position.
Ennis makes full Doncaster debut
Doncaster managed to win 1-0 and secure their third victory in a row and Ennis played 72 minutes before being replaced.
The United loanee had 33 touches, completed 13 passes, created one chance and attempted five crosses during his time on the pitch.
He also attempted two shots on goal and won four of his eight duels in the game.
Ennis will certainly be aiming to improve over the course of his loan spell, but it appears that he is making positive steps in these early weeks at Doncaster.
Doncaster boss praises “excellent” Ennis
That also seems to be the opinion of Rovers manager Grant McCann, who was complimentary of the “excellent” Ennis after full-time on Saturday.
“Ethan [had an] excellent debut, obviously he started and looked really lively and threatening,” McCann told club media.
“We probably didn’t get him the ball enough but again, I’m just pleased with the result.”
Ennis will now be hoping to build on his good start to life at Doncaster on Wednesday evening when the League Two side travel to face Barrow.
