The Premier League have left Liverpool fans fuming as they announce who will take charge of the Old Trafford tie against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United will look to rectify their last two Premier League results, a 1-1 draw against Brentford and a 4-3 loss against Chelsea, as they host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Three weeks ago, United hosted the same opponents in an epic 4-3 win over Jurgen Klopp’s men in the FA Cup quarter-finals, but the stakes are much higher for Liverpool this time around.

They are in the midst of a three-way title race against Arsenal and Manchester City, and will be heading to Old Trafford with steel determination to continue their drive for the trophy, as well as revenge for the FA Cup loss.

The Premier League have confirmed who will referee the tie.

Confirmed officials

Anthony Taylor (pictured below) will referee Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford. The experienced referee has overseen three United games this season: the 3-1 loss against Arsenal at the Emirates in September and the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup in January.

This decision has angered Liverpool fans greatly as Taylor was born in Wythenshawe, with many claiming that this will mean the experienced official will have a natural bias towards Ten Hag’s men… which is, of course, ridiculous.

Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn will be on the sidelines, acting as assistant referees for Gillett during the game. Craig Pawson has been handed the fourth official job, separating Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp on Sunday.

The Video Assistant Referee job has been handed to  John Brooks, who Richard West will assist.
