Chris Sutton has completely ignored a key point as he issues a bizarre prediction for Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Leicester City.

Manchester United return to Premier League action against Leicester City, with Rúben Amorim aiming to build on a strong midweek performance.

United delivered a dominant display on Thursday night, beating Real Sociedad 4-1 to secure their place in the Europa League quarter-finals, where they will face Olympique Lyonnais next month.

For now, attention turns back to the league, where United are looking to climb from 14th in the table and build momentum in their domestic campaign.

This fixture also marks a reunion with club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who briefly served as United’s interim manager earlier this season before Amorim’s appointment in November. It will be the second time the two managers go head-to-head.

United have already beaten Leicester three times this season, claiming victories in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Premier League. However, all those wins came at Old Trafford, making this trip to the King Power Stadium a fresh challenge.

Sutton issues Leicester vs United prediction

As always, former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has issued his predictions for the weekend’s upcoming ties with BBC Sport, and he has stated he feels the upcoming Leiester vs United fixture will be “close.”

“Leicester have struggled defensively all season, but their current lack of goals is an even bigger problem – they have not found the net in any of their past five league matches and have lost all of them,” Sutton explained.

“You could look at the Foxes’ 1-0 defeat against Chelsea last week and think that result was not too bad, but they never looked like scoring – the closest they got to a goal was when a cross came off Blues defender Tosin Adarabioyo’s shoulder, and hit the bar.

“Mind you, Manchester United are far from prolific either. They did improve in the second half of their draw with Arsenal, but they still don’t have much of a cutting edge.

“That makes me think this is going to be close. Leicester gave United a good game in the FA Cup at Old Trafford a few weeks ago and were beaten by Harry Maguire’s controversial stoppage-time winner.

“This time it is going to be just as tight, and I think the points will be shared,” Sutton concluded, putting his score prediction as a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Sutton bizarrely ignores key point

While it’s true that United have not had too much of a cutting edge, Sutton is ignoring the fact that United tend to perform better away from home than at Old Trafford.

United have lost just one of their seven away fixtures across all competitions in 2025, with the club putting in quality performances against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and a fight-back against Everton.

Sutton has also missed that United put four past Sociedad in a key fixture in midweek and will be riding high from the result, with players starting to return from injury and Bruno Fernandes hitting quality form.

While the former striker is well within his rights to feel the game will be a draw, United have come far in terms of looking like a more organised and well-drilled team since the FA Cup victory in February, and Sutton has failed to hand the side credit for that.
