Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has responded to the rumours that he could fight KSI or Jake Paul in the Boxing ring.

In recent weeks, the former Manchester United striker has been linked with a shock move into the influencer Boxing world.

It has been stated that Rooney is “open” to a fight in the ring after previously contacting YouTube star KSI for a clash.

Now, the 37-year-old has responded to the rumours after appearing on The Overlap show ‘Stick To Football’.

Former teammate Gary Neville showed Rooney a clip of one of their previous podcasts with Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who suggested that a fight against Jake Paul at Old Trafford would suit the ex-striker.

Further asked by Neville whether it was a serious option for Rooney, he did not rule the option out but made it clear that he wanted to get back into the hot seat following his sacking from Birmingham City.

“You never know… no, they’ve been in touch and asked the question but at the minute, I want to focus on getting back into management, not boxing,” said Rooney.

“They’ve just been in touch for me to fight, obviously that Misfits has been in and that’s been all over the news but I want to focus on getting back into management that’s my focus and I’ve seen all the headlines in the last couple of days but that’s my focus.

“I love Boxing; my dad boxed, and my uncle still runs the gym in Croxteth. I absolutely love it.”

Rooney was let go from his duties at Birmingham in early January after just 83 days and 15 games in charge.

He previously has held managerial roles at Derby County and D.C. United, as well.
