One Manchester United star has reportedly fallen out with Rúben Amorim as the Old Trafford side set their terms for an exit from the club in January.

Manchester United have entered the 2025 January transfer window in a precarious position, following a run of four straight defeats across the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

Rúben Amorim faces the daunting task of reshaping a squad in desperate need of reinforcements. However, the club’s financial situation is dire, largely due to the heavy spending during Erik ten Hag’s tenure of just over two seasons.

United’s needs are extensive: a new left-back, at least one centre-back, a striker, and multiple midfielders are required to steady the ship. Yet, limited finances mean they cannot afford to address these issues outright.

To fund new signings, the club are focusing on clearing out unwanted players in January and the summer, hoping to create the financial flexibility needed to rebuild.

Zirkzee as ‘fallen out’ with Amorim and is pushing January move

According to the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, United striker Joshua Zirkzee has had a row with Amorim following United’s loss against Newcastle United.

The player was taken off after just 33 minutes while the side sat 2-0 down, and since then, he is now reportedly pushing for a move out of the club after falling out with the 39-year-old.

It’s added that Zirkzee is looking to leave the club on loan, which comes after intense interest from Serie A side Juventus, managed by the 23-year-old’s former manager Thiago Motta.

“Zirkzee? It’s not appropriate to mention names,” Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said recently, “but we are keeping an eye on any interesting opportunities, and we will move to strengthen the defence.”

United issue their transfer demands for Zirkzee

United are open to offloading the Netherlands international in the coming weeks as they look to free up space within Amorim’s squad for new recruits.

Juventus are said to have asked for a straight loan deal, but United have reportedly informed the Turin club that they either have to bid for him in January or take him on a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer if they want him.

This would be similar to their current deal with Chelsea for Jadon Sancho. The English winger is technically on loan at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, but Chelsea is obliged pay £25 million to make the switch permanent next summer.

It has also been confirmed on multiple fronts that Juventus are discussing with Zirkzee’s representatives, although Napoli are said to have held interest in him as well.
