Manchester United have been labelled “a disgrace” for their recent actions as Gary Neville issues his thoughts on former target Benjamin Šeško.

Manchester United are looking to sign Jarrad Branthwaite this summer and have already agreed on personal terms with the England centre-back after he was not called up to Gareth Southgate‘s squad for the 2024 European Championships.

Following this agreement, United submitted an initial bid of £35 million plus a further £8 million in add-ons to Everton on Friday, although reports suggest that this has already been rejected.

The Merseyside club are said to want as much as £70 million for the 21-year-old defender, and former Everton star Don Hutchison has labelled the offer “a disgrace” as it seems as if United are trying to take advantage of Everton’s problems with profit and sustainability (PSR) rules.

“Another reason why I dislike ‘PSR’ – Man Utd lowballing Everton,” he wrote on X on Sunday.

“35 million is a disgrace of an offer. Man U think because Everton might be in trouble we can nick him away.

“Douglas Luiz off to Juve – same reason. Newcastle fans sweating on Bruno G [Guimarães].”

Meanwhile, former United captain Gary Neville has explained that he sympathises with Benjamin Šeško’s choice to stay at RB Leipzig.

Šeško was garnering significant interest from both the Old Trafford club and Arsenal during the early days of this summer but quickly chose to reject any potential move by signing a new deal until 2029 with a gentleman’s agreement to leave in a future window.

“[He’s got] goals, youth and physically,” Neville said of the 21-year-old on ITV. “I think we are moving back to having a big physical striker up front, the game seems to have flipped a little bit by having big defenders and big strikers.

“He is someone who has so much potential, and you can see why Premier League clubs are interested. But I can also see why, what is being suggested, he is staying at Leipzig for another year.

“It will give him the chance to grow without the spotlight you get on you in the Premier League and just develop his game a little bit more.”
