Manchester United have made their current views known on Jadon Sancho’s transfer in a strong message to Serie A giants Juventus.

Jadon Sancho, 24, was sidelined from Manchester United for the latter half of last season following a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag, who excluded him from a squad selection for an Arsenal match.

Sancho has not appeared for United in the Premier League since the end of August last year due to what Ten Hag described as subpar training performances. Sancho publicly refuted these claims, which led to his temporary removal from the team and a six-month loan return to Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho then reconciled with Ten Hag after a comprehensive discussion during pre-season and rejoined United’s first-team training sessions. Despite many thinking that Sancho may stay, he has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the last week.

Sancho has not been involved in any of United’s squads for their two opening Premier League games against Fulham and Brighton, and by all accounts, United intend to move him on.

However, BBC journalist Simon Stone has revealed that despite these intentions, the club want it to be known that they will not let Sancho leave for cheap. Stone explained that United want to ensure it is a permanent move.

“Manchester United [are] quite keen for it to be known they won’t give Jadon Sancho away,” Stone explained.

“[They] want a sale, or loan with [an] obligation to buy. [I am] not getting [the] impression [that] they are keen on Ben Chilwell being part of any deal with Chelsea.”

There have also been murmurs that Chelsea may offer outcast winger Raheem Sterling for Sancho, but The Athletic recently reported that the 29-year-old’s priority is to sort out his contract situation with Chelsea before engaging in talks with other clubs.

“He’s here, but I had a choice to make,” Ten Hag told TNT Sports when asked if the 24-year-old was going to leave this summer ahead of the tie against Brighton.

“We had some [injury] issues, so we need a full squad, and he’s one of them, and he has to compete for his position.

“But also, from game to game, we will have a look, and we need in the squad every position double, because it’s going to be a long season.”
