Manchester United have been dealt a fresh injury concern as Manuel Ugarte was substituted through an injury against Ecuador.

Manchester United are still suffering from multiple injury issues as Erik ten Hag prepares to adjust his team back to domestic football following the October international break.

Nine of the club’s players jetted off to Europe and South America to take on international ties for their respective countries, although many who would have otherwise gone stayed behind.

Amad Diallo, Harry Maguire, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo were not selected due to injuries.

While on international duty, Ramsus Højlund admitted that he is not quite fit to play 90 minutes. There was a scare when he missed training on the weekend—although he then played 57 minutes of Denmark’s 2-2 draw against Switzerland.

However, a concern that Ten Hag will hold surrounds the new £42 million signing Manuel Ugarte, who started both of Uruguay’s fixtures against Peru and Ecuador.

After playing 90 minutes against the former, Ugarte came off in the 82nd minute of the 0-0 draw with Ecuador, accompanied by a member of their medical staff, due to a pain in his right leg.

Ugarte will fly back to Manchester on Thursday to rejoin the club at Carrington, and Ten Hag is expected to provide updates on all the players mentioned above.

He will also give updates on Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro, and Mason Mount, who have all missed several games so far this season, with the former three yet to make an appearance this campaign.

The club will be encouraged by Christian Eriksen’s performance against Switzerland. The Denmark captain registered a goal and an assist.

Eriksen has been one of United’s most in-form players in the last month, although there has been no update on his current contract situation, which expires at the end of this season.
