Manchester United have confirmed the latest on six players as Rúben Amorim admits one of his stars has fallen to illness this week.
Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a high-stakes clash against Tottenham Hotspur in North London.
The two sides have already delivered a spectacle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, with Spurs edging a breathtaking 4-3 thriller to eliminate Rúben Amorim’s men from the Carabao Cup. Now, they meet again, both in desperate need of a result to ignite their faltering campaigns.
It has been a turbulent season for both clubs, who find themselves languishing in unfamiliar territory—United sit 13th, just two points ahead of 14th-placed Spurs. With expectations far greater than their current standing, this fixture carries immense significance in shaping the second half of their seasons.
For Amorim, Sunday represents another opportunity to instill his philosophy and build momentum with his squad, while Postecoglou faces growing discontent from Spurs fans, who are beginning to question whether he is the right man to lead them forward. With pressure mounting and both sides craving a statement win, this promises to be another fiercely contested battle in North London.
Amorim confirms illness issue vs Tottenham
Amorim spoke to the press ahead of the club’s trip to North London, and when asked for updates on his players, he admitted that they have encountered a couple of problems.
“It has been a good week,” he said at the press conference to preview the Spurs game. “Until two days ago, we had some problems, also as we don’t have players back.
“Maybe we will have one or two issues but we are waiting. We have one player who is sick, so we will see the team on the weekend. But it was good to work with the team and to try to help the players in our performances.”
When pushed on any names for those who are possible doubts for the north London encounter, he replied: “No, no, we will see at the weekend.”
United issue updates on six players
On their club website, United went further in depth about who is and is not available for the Tottenham clash.

Although they added little extra information surrounding Amorim’s words, the club explained that there were six players who were unavailable for the fixture last week, including confirmation that Altay Bayındır suffered an issue.
Mason Mount is not expected back until next month, while Lisandro Martínez is out for the rest of the season and potentially until November after damaging a ligament in his knee.
Further, it was confirmed that Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans had missed the Leicester tie with injuries, while Luke Shaw was not spotted in training earlier this week.
