It has been confirmed that Manchester United have suffered a four injury blows as Rúben Amorim prepares his team to face Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon with a high-stakes clash against Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

The two sides have already met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season in a pulsating Carabao Cup tie, where Spurs emerged victorious in a dramatic 4-3 encounter to knock Rúben Amorim’s men out of the competition. Now, with league points on the line, both teams will be eager to come out on top in what promises to be another intense battle.

It has been a season of frustration for both clubs, with United sitting 13th and Spurs just behind them in 14th, two points adrift. With expectations far exceeding their current reality, this fixture carries added significance as both teams look to spark a turnaround in their fortunes.

For Amorim, Sunday is another crucial step in shaping his squad and asserting his authority, while Ange Postecoglou finds himself under mounting pressure as Spurs fans grow increasingly impatient.

With both sides desperate for a statement result, this North London showdown is set to be a fiery and fiercely contested affair.

United suffer four injuries

On Friday afternoon, Amorim explained in his pre-match press conference that his squad had been hit with some injury issues during training this week, although he did not give names.

However, The Athletic have now confirmed that the three players who have been hit with problems are Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer.

According to the report, Mainoo’s injury is slightly more serious than the other two, with the 19-year-old midfielder set to be out for more than a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Collyer and Ugarte are not confirmed absentees from the Spurs clash, although they are “major doubts” with the team set to travel on Saturday afternoon.

The Daily Mail have also confirmed that star player Amad has suffered damage to his ankle ligament in training, and the club have since confirmed that the star player will miss a number of weeks through injury.

Amorim facing genuine crisis

The four new injuries add to a growing list of players who are unavailable for Amorim. Mason Mount is not expected to be back until next month, while Luke Shaw was not spotted in training this week after a setback.

Jonny Evans has not been in training for around two months, while reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton and second choice Altay Bayındır missed the fixture against Leicester City last week. Lisandro Martínez is out for the season with an ACL injury.

United have included Jack Moorhouse, Sekou Kone, Chido Obi, and other Academy stars in their travelling squad this weekend with the 40-year-old now in dire need of reinforcements.

Although Amorim has been quick to warn that he is hesitant to throw Academy players into the first team, should a few more senior players drop out due to injury, the 40-year-old may have little choice.
