Manchester United latest injury news vs Chelsea as Ruud van Nistelrooy suffers double blow
Ruud van Nistelrooy has suffered a double injury blow this week as Manchester United prepare to face Cheslea at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
Manchester United are gearing up to welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Sunday as they return to Premier League action.
In their last league outing, the Reds narrowly fell 2-1 to West Ham due to a contentious penalty, a result that ultimately led to Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is serving as interim manager, while Rúben Amorim is set to take over after the November international break.
Most recently, United recorded an emphatic 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, earning a spot in the quarter-finals, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur in London.
Double injury blow
Earlier in the week, it was confirmed that Christian Eriksen is out due to injury, missing the squad that overcame Leicester, which meant Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, and Bruno Fernandes started in midfield.
Adding to United’s challenges, it was announced on Friday that young midfielder Toby Collyer will be sidelined for a month after sustaining an injury while representing England U20s during the October international break, making him the second midfielder ruled out through injury this week.
This situation leaves United with just the three midfielders who played against Leicester as their only fit senior options, requiring additional numbers to be sourced from Academy players.
The defensive injury list remains unchanged, with four players still out and no updates on Harry Maguire’s status. Meanwhile, Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia target returns after the November international break, though Luke Shaw encountered a further setback last week.
In midfield, United are also without Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo, while Antony remains unavailable due to an ankle injury.
In more positive news, multiple first-team players, such as Rasmus Højlund and Lisandro Martínez, played limited minutes against Leicester and emerged unscathed, affording them some rest ahead of the tie against Chelsea.
Chelsea’s team news
For Chelsea, Enzo Maresca confirmed earlier this week that Jadon Sancho is the only player missing from their squad, who is out through illness.
However, the English winger would not have been able to play at Old Trafford anyway as he is on loan to Chelsea from United. Football Association rules state that a loan player cannot face their parent club in a league fixture, but they could in a cup tie.
