Man Utd hold talks with Benjamin Šeško after Arsenal deal falls through, he could reach Erling Haaland’s heights

Manchester United have held talks with one of the game’s ‘top young talents’ after his proposed deal with Arsenal fell through. The striker has been likened to Erling Haaland.

It is England’s worst-kept secret at the moment that Manchester United are in the market for a new striker, but their efforts have come to no avail so far.

Since signing Matheus Cunha, transfer activity at Old Trafford has stalled, with talks for Bryan Mbeumo now surpassing the six-week mark without a conclusion being reached.

Having been linked with a whole host of different names, you would expect that some concrete advancements would have been made by mid-July, but that unfortunately isn’t the case.

Ruben Amorim’s striker targets have diminished as the weeks have passed, with some moving to other clubs and others staying put at their current sides. This could be set to change, however.

Sesko’s agent in contact with United

Recent reports from TBR Football have revealed that United have held talks with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, following the collapse of his deal with Arsenal.

The Gunners opted for Amorim’s former striker, Viktor Gyokeres, as opposed to the Slovenian, a deal that is set to be wrapped up in the coming days.

Sesko has been a target for a host of clubs so far this summer, with the youngster possessing a very unique skill set. Despite this, no club has decided to follow through on their interest as of yet.

With such a one-of-a-kind skill set, it is surprising that nobody has taken a punt on the 22-year-old yet in this window, but that could be where United step in.

Sesko likened to Haaland

The Slovenian’s play style has been likened to Erling Haaland’s, via the Bundesliga website, with former Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell labelling him as ‘among the game’s top young talents’.

Vivell said, “Benjamin Šeško is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player. He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him and is strong in the air… His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.”

When talking on comparisons to Haaland, Sesko said, “Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is.”

Given that it is clear the Slovenian powerhouse backs himself to reach Haaland’s heights, it would be fitting if he followed a similar career path, moving from Austria to Germany to Manchester.
