Man Utd have “made an approach” for Spanish breakout star with attractive £21 million release clause

Manchester United have reportedly contacted the entourage of one of Spain’s hottest prospects as they look to solve one of Ruben Amorim’s biggest dilemmas.

Amid what could be a very chaotic summer at Manchester United, the club have already started with their transfer plans as they look to clean up the mess that has occurred over the course of this season.

With it being reported that the Reds have started conducting their summer business ahead of schedule, there will be a number of areas that Ruben Amorim wants fixing ahead of next season.

Although the attacking departments are perhaps the areas that need the most attention, it cannot be understated how important it is that United finally sort out their goalkeeping situation.

This being said, according to Cope, United have became the most recent club to contact the entourage of one of Spain’s breakout stars as they look to answer their shot-stopping dilemma.

United contact Garcia entourage

With Andre Onana leaving a lot to be desired in his time at United and Altay Bayındır likely to leave the clun, Amorim’s side are in desperate need of new goalkeepers to progress.

This has led to the club contacting the entourage of 23-year-old Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who is enjoying an excellent campaign as he continues to catch the eye of some of Europe’s elite sides.

As per SportWitness, United ‘have made an approach’ for Garcia and join the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid, who also have interest in the stopper.

In the same report, it claims that Arsenal saw a bid for Garcia rejected last summer, although they have continued to show interest since that point.

Espanyol’s sporting director addresses Garcia noise

Despite Espanyol sitting 13th in La Liga, Garcia has been a shining light for his side, racking up seven clean sheets. This has helped Espanyol to have the eighth best defence in the league.

The Spaniard has an attractive release clause of just £21.3million, which rises to £25.6million in the last 15 days of the transfer window, and also increases by a further £4.2million if he makes his debut for Spain.

Espanyol’s sporting director Fran Garagarza has obviously taken notice of the interest surrounding his star player, which led him to come out and address the situation,

“There’s a lot of noise, but nothing is happening,” he told Sport. “There’s no firm movement like there was in the previous [summer] window. There may be movements because he’s a top-level goalkeeper, but we’re calm, and most importantly, the kid is very calm”.

If United’s interest is to be as thorough as reported, then Amorim will be hoping that the 23-year-old’s calmness surrounding his future can translate onto the pitch at Old Trafford.
