Man Utd have attracted ‘intelligent’ star with ‘good sporting project’, he would save Ruben Amorim millions after Viktor Gyokeres rejection

Manchester United might need to look elsewhere for a new striker after reportedly being rejected by Viktor Gyokeres and there is one player keen on the move.

Matheus Cunha was the first signing of the summer for Manchester United and they are now pursuing a move for Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.

Those two signings would bolster the no.10 positions in Ruben Amorim’s system but the Reds also desperate need to bring in a striker as well.

After being rejected by Liam Delap – who has now joined Chelsea – United seemed to move onto Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, who previously worked under Amorim.

However, the latest reports have suggested that the Swedish star has rejected an Old Trafford move in favour of Arsenal, who are also showing interest in him.

If that is the case, United will need to identify another centre-forward in the coming weeks and there’s one talented goalscorer who is known to be fond of a potential move to the club.

David attracted by United project

There are plenty of different strikers on the move this summer and Jonathan David is one of them. The Lille star’s contract is running out and he’s considering his options.

Reports have claimed that the Canadian has rejected a move to Juventus, with his preference being a move to the Premier League – and, in particular, to United.

The Reds have had previous interest in David but things have been relatively quiet surrounding his name so far this summer, although, it is clear that he’d be keen to join.

United’s poor performances from last year are not the best way to convince players to make the move but those in charge have been focusing on selling the long-term project to targets this summer, and that’s something David appreciates.

“I want a club with ambition that wants to do something,” David told The Athletic in a recent interview. “Obviously, I would love to fight for titles, to win titles. A team that’s competitive, that has ambition, really, with a good sporting project.”

United should consider David move

David scored 25 goals for Lille last season and also registered 12 assists. He is also just 25 years old despite it feeling like he’s been around forever.

Canada manager Jesse Marsch once called him “the most intelligent player” he’s ever coached, and United must consider him in the coming weeks.

With the addition of Cunha, and also potentially Mbeumo, there will be less strain on the centre-forward and, for now, they don’t need to be a world-beater.

Securing a steady and reliable option for next season on the cheap could then allow United to focus more funds in midfield while still strengthening their forward unit.

He is clearly open to the move but as a free agent the striker will want to make his decision soon, and there isn’t much time left for United to enter the race.
