Manchester United’s transfer fee for Geovany Quenda explained as coach predicts pending transfer
Manchester United already know how much they will have to spend to sign Geovany Quenda from Rúben Amorim’s former club CP Sporting this summer.
Manchester United are preparing to strengthen their creative departments this summer as Rúben Amorim looks to solve ongoing issues in the wide areas of the pitch.
Creativity has been a persistent problem for United this season, with the team struggling to break down defences and often failing to score more than once per game. Their inconsistent performances at Old Trafford have only intensified concerns over their lack of domination in the attacking wide areas.
In January, the club sanctioned multiple loan departures, with Antony joining Real Betis, Marcus Rashford moving to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley heading to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Further midfield changes are expected in the summer. Christian Eriksen is set to leave when his contract expires, while Casemiro is no longer part of Amorim’s long-term plans.
As a result, United are preparing to enter the transfer market in search of midfielders and creative players who can bring more versatility, energy, and tactical flexibility to suit Amorim’s vision.
United’s Quenda transfer fee explained
One player United have been continually linked to in the last few months is Sporting starlet winger Geovany Quenda, who has been brilliant in Portugal this season.
Before Amorim’s move from Sporting to United, Quenda had made himself a vital part of the system as a right wing-back, although he was often very advanced on the right flank, which is part of the 40-year-old’s United system that’s missing.
According to reports from last week, United are already exploring a deal to sign Quenda this summer, and that a deal to sign him would cost around £33 million.
The Manchester Evening News have further stated that United recently met with Jorge Mendes, with the super agent’s Gestifute agency currently negotiating on behalf of the 17-year-old and his representative.
According to the report, a separate source claimed that Mendes bought half of Quenda’s image rights, which further implies that the player is set for a move once he turns 18.
Coach not surprised at United links
Speaking last week, Quenda’s youth coach Bernardo Bruschy has explained that he is not surprised that United are linked with the player, and he feels the player could become a star at a top European club.
“Seeing his name being associated with clubs of the biggest size in Europe surprises me just because it is so early, I am not surprised if he gets there,” Bruschy explained.
“Sometimes we forget that Quenda is only 17 years old. His maturity, his quality and the performance he can already give to the team, even though he is so young, are something out of the ordinary.
“And that makes us forget his age, but in fact he is only 17 years old and has a lot to improve and grow, but he is already a player who is at a state of maturity far ahead of what is normal for his age.”
