Manchester United look to be eyeing a transfer boost as their sell-on clause for Mason Greenwood could be activated in the near future.
Manchester United have risen in the table in recent weeks, with their win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend taking them up to sixth in the Premier League after nine games.
Ruben Amorim’s third successive victory has taken the Reds to 16 points from their first nine games, which is a solid return given how slow they started the season.
It has been United’s new signings who have stolen the limelight recently, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško all contributing goals, whilst Senne Lammens has brought some consistency between the sticks.
Whilst it is the new attackers for the Red Devils who are bringing the club some joy at the moment, it could be one of United’s old attackers who brings in some revenue.
Europe’s elites chase Greenwood
It has recently been reported on X by transfer journalist Ekrem Konur that Tottenham have joined the race for former Red Devil Mason Greenwood, who is currently playing in France for Marseille.
Having rediscovered his form in France, the young forward has attracted interest from clubs such as Barcelona, West Ham United, Atletico Madrid, and Aston Villa.
Marseille are eager to keep their talented star, although they would be open to talks if a strong offer were to arrive.
Greenwood has eight goals and four assists across both Ligue 1 and the Champions League so far this season, which has started to catch the limelight.
United’s chance to invest
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have a sell-on clause of around 50% for their Academy graduate, which would mean they would make a sizeable fee if Greenwood were to be sold.
With Amorim’s side hoping to bring in new additions come January, making a pretty penny off one of their former players could help the Reds bring in the players they desire.

United have made it fairly clear that they want to bring in a new midfield addition in the near future, but if they were to go for one of the more expensive options on the market, they would benefit from any additional capital.
It will be interesting to see how this story progresses, though even if United benefit financially from a Greenwood sale, they will hope he doesn’t move to one of their league rivals.
