Manchester United are eyeing one Portuguese wonderkid who has a £55 million release clause after watching his ‘incredible’ performance last week.

Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that the United role is proving more challenging than he initially expected, with only four full training sessions to start implementing his system.

It’s already evident that the Reds require reinforcements to support the new head coach. However, with finances severely constrained, player sales will be necessary to facilitate any signings in the January transfer window.

INEOS are attempting to change the transfer strategy at Old Trafford, with extra focus on bringing in young and exciting talent who can grow into top level players.

The likes of Chido Obi Martin, Sekou Kone and Leny Yoro were brought in during the summer and the club are eyeing more wonderkids to add to their ranks.

United eyeing 17-year-old Mora

According to a report from CaughtOffside, United scouts have been watching Porto wonderkid Rodrigo Mora in recent weeks.

Mora, 17, excelled in the Portuguese team’s latest 4-0 win over Boavista, registering one goal and another assist in an ‘incredible’ performance.

The teenager has broken into the Porto side this season and the Reds are keeping tabs on him. He has six goal contributions in seven league fixtures so far this term.

The report also explained that Mora has a release clause in his contract at Porto which is said to be around £55 million.

It was not explained whether the two-time Champions League winners would be open to letting him leave for less than that figure.

Amorim addresses January transfer window

Any deal for Mora would likely have to wait until the summer transfer window but the Reds will still be eager to do business this month.

The January transfer window could help Amorim bring important players in to help speed up the process of adapting to his new system.

He has explained that the club need to make sales before signing any players in the mid-season window, but also hints that they will try and make some moves.

“When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something,” the 39-year-old told reporters this week.

It is most likely that the Reds target a left wingback signing, while the likes of Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Lindelöf are rumoured for exits.
