Manchester United confirm Erik ten Hag’s XI to face Man City (Community Shield)

Manchester United have confirmed that Erik ten Hag has picked Bruno Fernandes to start as they face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

After wrapping up their pre-season tour, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad returned to the United Kingdom to put the finishing touches on their preparations for the 2024/25 season.

Key players like Lisandro Martínez, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Mainoo missed the pre-season due to their participation in the 2024 European Championships and Copa America. They have now rejoined the squad after enjoying extended breaks.

As United gear up for the new season, which begins with a home match against Fulham at Old Trafford, they are also set to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday.

Although United and City had different outcomes in the Premier League last season, United clinched a 2-1 victory over City in the FA Cup final, with Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho once again returning to Wembley.

The line-ups for both teams for the fixture have been confirmed.

Starting XI: Onana, Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Martínez, Casemiro, Mainoo, Mount, Amad, Fernandes, Rashford.

Manchester City

Starting XI: Ederson, Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, O’Reilly, McAtee, Bobb, Haaland, Doku.
