One of Manchester United’s reported targets this summer wants to leave Premier League club Crystal Palace, and his arrival would solve an INEOS problem.

Manchester United want multiple new centre-backs this summer, according to many reports, with INEOS seemingly prioritising signing young, preferably English talents.

While Everton‘s Jarrad Branthwaite is the player, who has been most routinely linked to the club across the last few months, another name which has gained traction is Marc Guéhi.

The 23-year-old defender has excelled since moving to South London from Chelsea in 2021, when Palace signed him for £18 million. Guéhi has since made his debut for England and was included in Gareth Southgate’s preliminary squad for the 2024 European Championships.

According to SportsZone, Guéhi has expressed his desire to leave Crystal Palace this summer, with Manchester United holding significant interest from Manchester United.

The 23-year-old is keen on staying in the Premier League, making him an attractive prospect for the top-tier clubs in the competition.

The report infers that Manchester United are leading the race for Guéhi. Although Liverpool and Chelsea are monitoring the situation, they have other transfer priorities at the moment. Guéhi’s preference to remain in England’s top flight will add a competitive edge to the pursuit, with United eager to secure his services and enhance their backline stability.

Guéhi’s addition would address critical defensive vulnerabilities for United, a problem that INEOS must solve this summer. His pace, composure, and tactical awareness make him an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s system, which requires defenders who are confident on the ball and strong in one-on-one situations.

United’s current defensive setup has faced challenges this season through injuries and poor performances, and Guéhi’s presence could provide much-needed depth and resilience.

Guéhi’s commitment to staying in the Premier League aligns well with United’s ambitions. His experience in England’s top flight would ensure that the Englishman would not need time to adapt to the Premier League, which would allow him to have an immediate impact.
